Displays the current time using kanji number icons on 8x8 LED matrices. Based on a ESP8266 HUZZAH and LED matrices from Adafruit. Housed in a custom built wood and glass enclosure.
The software is available on GitHub.
Here is a list of the main hardware components used.
A Fritzing file is included in the repo which shows the wiring connections.
The LEDs are tied to wooden sticks held together by round wooden end pieces as shown below. The LED holder assembly was spray painted black to minimize glare.
The LED holder is inserted into the glass vase. Power and I2C cables are routed through the wooden end blocks.
All parts are brought together and secured using fasteners.
The HUZZAH is mounted in a recess under the base.
Load the code. Apply power. And done.
